Where you go changes when you go
Berlin and the north
Cool and flat, best from late spring to early autumn. The north coast is breezy and made for summer.
Bavaria and Munich
Home of Oktoberfest in late September and a gateway to the Alps. Summer for hiking, winter for the markets and snow.
The Alps and the south
Walks need local trail conditions. Zugspitze expects skiing from late November 2026, if snow and lifts allow.
The classic Germany loop
This rail loop links Berlin, Saxony, Bavaria, the Rhine and Hamburg. Check each leg and fare before booking. The Deutschland-Ticket covers local transport, but usually not ICE, IC or EC trains.
